About the event
You’ve been working with new characters and developing a plot; maybe there are themes you’re interested in exploring but you’re not sure how to find your way in. Perhaps you’ve been working for months on a project, and you’d like the chance to see it with fresh eyes. Or maybe you've just been meaning to put pen to paper for an age and this seems like a good time. Join us for this one day writing retreat at The Create Place, St Margaret's House, Bethnal Green, London where you’ll have the chance to closely examine your ideas and launch them into the next phase, getting you closer to finishing your story, developing your novel or simply having a clearer idea of what you’re trying to achieve.
Over five hours (with a lunch break either at the delightful Gallery Café on site or anywhere along Mare Street in Bethnal Green) you’ll have time to take a deep dive into your story ideas through writing exercises and group discussion. Joanna Quinn and Sarah Leipciger will help you navigate your way to a better understanding of the stories you want to tell and how to tell them. Peggy Riley will also be on hand to offer teas, coffees and cake through the day - necessary writers’ provisions!

The Create Place is a community arts space in St Margaret's House, Bethnal Green, London.
Closest Underground station: Bethnal Green (Central Line) is a 5 minute walk away, but this station does not have step-free access.

There are bike racks outside York Hall and where Sugar Loaf Walk meets Victoria Park Square. Both are a minute's walk from St Margaret's House.
We advise you not to leave your bike attached to railings, fences or lamp posts whilst visiting us, and always look out for signage from Tower Hamlets Council about bike parking restrictions.
